Notes

  • Note for Web*: Jane Tarray Jane Turra/Tarray/Paul states on her marriage record that her father is Alexander Paul and her mother's ms is Slorah. On her death registration Jane's mother is recorded as Margaret Slorah previously Paul ms Turra. Margaret variously uses Turra/ Tarry/ Paul/ Turriff/ [Stronach/] Slorach/ Slorah as a surname.
No evidence of a marriage to anyone with the surname Paul can be found for Margaret.
There IS a Margaret Paul who marries and has family with John Stronach in the same area. She dies in Alness in 1888 and is noted as a midwife married to John Stronach. It is believed that this Margaret is a different person and a red herring in the research..
